Fisher 1 – 4 Leyton

Fisher fans look on from the balcony at Mellish Fields

Fisher’s return to Rotherhithe ended in defeat as Leyton ran out easy winners on a baking hot afternoon at Mellish Fields.

Fisher’s line-up consisted of a mixture of first team regulars and triallists, as manager Gary Lisney split his squad between this game and a behind closed doors friendly with Croydon Athletic played earlier in the day. Leyton’s pace and power proved too much, although Fish briefly threatened a comeback when Cedric Abraham reduced the deficit to 2-1 early in the second half.

In the earlier game, a Fisher XI lost narrowly 3-2 to a strong side put out by Ryman Premier outfit Croydon Athletic.

A final tune-up before the season starts will see Fisher travel to Hullbridge Sports of the Essex Senior League on Tuesday 3rd August, further details to follow.
