Charlie Bennett

All at Fisher were saddened by the news that Charlie Bennett passed away peacefully last night.

Charlie was Fisher through and through. He worked tirelessly to support and raise funds for Fisher, and though he had been ill his death is a shock to us all.

We will remember and pay tribute to Charlie at a future home game, provisionally the Saturday 7th December fixture against Deal Town. We would welcome your memories and photos of Charlie so that we can feature them in the programme: feel free to post a comment on this page, or email dan@fisherfc.co.uk.

RIP Charlie. You will be missed.

  1. I had the privilege of knowing Charlie for close to 30 years. Growing up back in the 80’s – if I was going to the Fisher it wasn’t the game I was looking forward to – it was seeing Charlie and Jim. They’re the heart and soul of this football club and to lose both in the last six months is a tragedy. Charlie’s contribution to the club over the decades should not be under-estimated, a great servant to the club and friend.

    R.I.P Charlie

So saddened by the news of Charlie’s passing away, i used to see him at games way back in the 80’s but didnt really know him then , it wasnt until our success under Sami that i met him , he always shook my hand followed by a “hello son how are you” their was just something about him that had my total respect. What a smashing bloke , I am really sorry to hear this news..rest in peace Charlie god bless you….

  3. So sad to hear this news, Charlie was the first person i met at Fisher, having strayed inadvertently
into the bar, he was the most pleasant, friendly man, a real Fisher legend, a true gent, his efforts,
character, and totally lovely demeanour, will be sadly missed, but never forgotten
    RIP.. Charlie.

  5. Rest in peace Charlie. A great man. We spent many a great day travelling on the team coach to away games with Charlie back when we were in rotherhithe. We used to have the Fred Edwards bar at the old ground, when we get back what about the Charlie Bennett bar,
From Fred, Tom and Matt Coombs.
